The burgeoning chain now has 32 stores in New York and Los Angeles, and plans to to have 50 locations by year-end. Stores in Las Vegas and London are also on tap. Meanwhile, Bodum sues Starbucks for "alleged "patent infringements of the French Press or the "nonelectric coffee maker". Bodum USA, based in New York, accused Seattle-based Starbucks of copying its silver-domed glass carafe design and selling the copy as its own "Anniversary Press" coffee maker. 10.26.07Tall ProfitsAccording to Starbucked: A Double Tall Tale of Caffeine, Commerce, and Culture By Taylor Clark When the 8-ounce cup of coffee (the "short") was removed from the menu, the "tall" size increased profits by 25 cents per cup for only 2 cents of added product. Contrary to popular opinion, Starbucks increases sales at rival nearby coffeehouses. The average customer spends $4.05 per visit for coffee; the average fast-food-restaurant visitor spends $4.34 for an entire meal. For a cup that costs $3.40, at least 40 cents is profit.

The chopper, which has flown briefly on six occasions, is made from scrap aluminium that Abdullahi bought with the money he makes from computer and mobile phone repairs, and a donation from his father, who teaches at Kano's Bayero university.
