Ferries Still On Alert After Terror Strikes

Ferry terminals in New London remain on high alert following the terrorist attacks last week in London.
Soldiers in fatigues stand at the vehicle entrance to the Orient Point, N.Y., ferry, watching as cars enter and exit the boat.
Although he would not comment on specific measures, Mark Easter, the operations manager for the Fishers Island Ferry District, said that at the request of the Coast Guard he has increased staffing to serve as security on the boats, which make as many as 11 round trips a day between New London and Fishers Island.
