As Southampton's town planners were about to hold their first talks with the town board Friday about the development of a 13-acre site in Bridgehampton that would include a large bookstore, more than a dozen protesters stood on the steps of town hall, denouncing the meeting.
"Our tax dollars are paying to develop a plan with the developers, for the developers," complained Kathryn Szoka, co-owner of Canio's bookstore in Sag Harbor. She said town planners had been talking to Barnes & Noble, which owns nine of the 13 acres.
